Terms of Service

Last updated

These terms are the agreement between you and KOLOL LLC about ko.lol: the website, the desktop app, your account and Premium. Read them in full before you use ko.lol. By using any part of ko.lol you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use ko.lol.

Who we are and what these terms cover

ko.lol is run by KOLOL LLC, a company registered in the State of Delaware, USA. Our postal address is 8 The Green # 10335, Dover, DE 19901, USA, and you can write to us at [email protected]. In these terms, "ko.lol", "we" and "us" mean KOLOL LLC, and "you" means the person using ko.lol.

These terms cover everything we run under the ko.lol name: the website at ko.lol and its pages in every language, the public player and match pages, the lobby pages the app opens, the desktop app for Windows, your ko.lol account, the free plan, the trial and Premium, our Discord server and its bot, and the forum at forum.ko.lol. The forum has its own sign-up and its own posting rules, and those apply on top of these terms.

How we collect and use personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy. It is part of these terms, so read it too.

ko.lol is a statistics website and a desktop app for League of Legends. The website shows numbers worked out from match data that Riot Games publishes through its official API: champions, builds, items, runes, counters, matchups, tier lists, player profiles, match pages and more. The desktop app reads what Riot's own League client and game report on your computer while you play, and shows you suggestions for the draft, your runes, your items, your skill order and the enemy team, in its own window and over the game while you hold Tab.

ko.lol gives you numbers and suggestions. It does not play for you and does not promise you will win or climb. Every number is an estimate from the games we have recorded, and every suggestion is our best reading of those numbers. They can be wrong, out of date, or a poor fit for the game in front of you, and you decide what to do with them. ko.lol is not made, endorsed or run by Riot Games. Riot runs League of Legends, its accounts and its rules, and we do not.

Who can use ko.lol, and your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use ko.lol. If the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to an online service or to the use of your data without a parent's consent (16 in some EU countries, for example), you must be that age, or a parent or guardian must accept these terms for you and stay responsible for how you use ko.lol.

You must be allowed to play League of Legends under Riot Games' terms, and you must not be barred from using ko.lol by the law of the country you live in, including US sanctions law. If you use ko.lol for a team, a company or another group, you confirm that you can accept these terms for it.

You can read the website without an account. To use the desktop app's live help, the trial or Premium, you need a ko.lol account. Every account starts with signing in through Riot's own sign-in page, so we never see your Riot password. After that you can connect Google or Facebook and use them to sign in to the same account, and you can connect Discord for your roles in our Discord server. Discord is never a way to sign in. We ask for an email address to finish signing in, and the app needs one to score matches.

One account per person. Do not share your account, sell it, lend it or let anyone else use it, and do not make extra accounts or reinstall to get more trial days or more free matches. You are responsible for everything done through your account, so keep your devices and the accounts you sign in with safe. If you think someone else has used your ko.lol account, write to [email protected] at once.

Your full name, if you give one, is shown only to you and to our staff. The links you add to your profile (Twitch, YouTube, X and the like) are public: anyone who opens your player page sees them, so add only links you want strangers to follow. You are responsible for what those links lead to.

Free, the trial and Premium

Every feature of ko.lol is free. The first time you sign in, you get 7 days in which every match you play is scored and no ads are shown. That is the trial. There is one trial per Riot account, and it needs no card.

After the trial, the free plan scores 2 matches every 24 hours. Each free match comes back 24 hours after you used it. A match is used once the app gives you help for that game, in champion select or in the game itself, and a champion select you dodge can still use one up. When none are left, the app tells you when the next one comes back. The website, your history and the rest of the app stay open on the free plan.

The free plan shows ads on the website and in the app. Our server decides who sees them, and nothing on your side can switch them off. Premium and the trial show no ads anywhere. The ads come from an advertising partner, and the Privacy Policy explains what that means for your data.

Premium scores every match you play and removes the ads, on the website and in the app. It does not unlock other features, because there are none to unlock: everything else is already free.

We may change what the free plan includes, how many free matches it gives, and what Premium includes. If a change takes away something you have already paid for, it applies to you from your next billing period, we tell you before it applies, and you can cancel before then.

Paying, renewing, cancelling and refunds

Premium is sold by the month or by the year. The price is in US dollars and is shown on the Premium page and again at checkout before you pay. Any sales tax or VAT is worked out at checkout. You can pay by card and with the wallets Stripe offers (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link and PayPal), or with cryptocurrency.

Card and wallet payments run on Stripe's own checkout page. For these payments Stripe is the seller of record: it sells the subscription to you for us, works out and collects any sales tax or VAT, and sends your receipt, and Stripe's own terms apply to the payment itself. Your bank statement and receipt may name Stripe or Link. We never see or store your card number.

A card subscription renews by itself at the end of each month or year and charges the same payment method, until you cancel. If a renewal payment fails, Premium stays on for up to 3 days while Stripe tries again. If it still fails, your account goes back to the free plan.

You can cancel at any time from your account page on the website, which opens Stripe's billing page. There you can also switch between monthly and yearly, change your card and read your invoices. Cancelling stops the next charge. Premium stays on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account goes back to the free plan. Cancelling deletes nothing: your account and your history stay.

If we raise the price of Premium, we tell you by email or in your account at least 30 days before the new price applies to you. It starts at your first renewal after that notice. If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before that renewal.

Crypto payments go through our own Bitcart payment server. A crypto payment buys 30 days (monthly) or 365 days (yearly) of Premium up front. It never renews by itself. If you pay again before it runs out, the new days are added to the end of the time you have left. The amount in crypto is fixed for 15 minutes. Send exactly that amount, in the coin and on the network shown. A payment that confirms within 24 hours is still accepted. Crypto payments cannot be reversed: money sent to the wrong address or on the wrong network is lost, and neither we nor anyone else can get it back. If you sent too little or too late, write to us and a person looks at it.

Refunds. If you ask within 14 days of your first Premium payment, we refund that payment in full, wherever you live. After that, payments are not refunded, and that includes renewals, so cancel before the renewal date if you do not want the next period. A charge made by mistake, such as two charges for the same period, is always refunded. If we close ko.lol or end Premium for good, or close your account without one of the reasons in these terms, we refund the part of your paid period you could not use. Card refunds go back to the card or wallet you paid with, through Stripe. Crypto payments are final and are refunded only where the law requires it or where we made the mistake. To ask for a refund, write to [email protected] from the email on your account and tell us your Riot ID.

If you live in the EU, the UK or another country whose law gives consumers 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase, you have that right. Premium starts the moment you pay, so by paying you ask us to start it within those 14 days. If you withdraw in that time, the refund rule above gives you back the full first payment.

If you dispute a charge with your bank or card company instead of writing to us first, we may pause Premium on your account while the dispute is open, and we may close the account if the dispute turns out to be abuse.

The desktop app

We give you a personal, free, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to install the ko.lol app on computers you use and to use it for your own play, for as long as you follow these terms. The app stays ours. You get the right to use it, not ownership of it.

The app runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. It installs for your own Windows user and starts with Windows so that it is ready before you queue. You can turn that off in the app's settings or in Windows.

The app updates itself. It checks our server for a new version, downloads it and installs it, so you always run the latest one. Some updates are needed for the app to keep working with our server, and an old version may stop getting answers. The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you about it. Download it only from ko.lol. You can check the file you have against the name, size and sha512 fingerprint we publish for every release.

The app reads only what Riot's League client and the game report through the local interfaces Riot provides for this. It does not read game memory, does not inject anything into the game, does not track enemy cooldowns and does not read your screen. To show its window over the game while you hold Tab, it watches your keyboard and mouse across your whole computer while a game is running. It does not keep or send what you type.

The app changes things in your League client only for features you use or turn on: picking or locking a champion from the app, setting your rune page with Rune Auto-Set (which may overwrite your lowest editable rune page when all your pages are full), setting summoner spells and saving item sets. One feature is on by default: at the start of champion select, the app posts one chat message with a link to a live page of your draft. You can turn it off in the app's Settings with Post a build link in champion select. Riot Games sets the rules for its client and its chat, and it is your choice whether to keep these features on.

You are responsible for following Riot Games' terms and rules when you play. Riot decides which third-party tools it allows, and it can change those rules at any time. We are not responsible for anything Riot does to your account.

Do not copy, sell, rent, lend or share the app, take it apart, decompile it, change it, or remove our notices from it, except where the law lets you do so whatever these terms say.

Fair use, and whose content is whose

Use ko.lol the way a player would. Do not scrape, crawl or download ko.lol pages or data in bulk, and do not resell, republish or build a product on our statistics without our written permission. Do not use bots or scripts against the website, the app or our servers, apart from ordinary search engine crawling that follows our robots.txt. Do not call our servers in ways the app and the website do not, share the access you get from your account, or try to get around the free match limit, the ads or Premium. Do not try to break, overload or probe ko.lol, get around its security, or reach accounts or data that are not yours.

Do not use ko.lol to harass, threaten, impersonate or harm anyone, or to break the law. Do not use the lobby pages, profile links or our Discord server to spread unlawful, hateful, sexual or violent content, malware, scams or spam. Do not use ko.lol in a way that breaks Riot Games' terms.

The ko.lol software, design, text, statistics and the methods behind them belong to KOLOL LLC or to the people who license them to us. You may share links to ko.lol, screenshots and single numbers with a link back to the page they came from. Anything more needs our written permission. League of Legends names, images, game data and art belong to Riot Games, and we use them under the rules Riot Games sets for third-party projects.

What you put on ko.lol, such as your profile links, your messages to us, and posts on the forum or in our Discord server, stays yours. You give us a worldwide, free licence to store, copy and show it as far as we need to run ko.lol, and you confirm you have the right to post it. We may remove anything that breaks these terms. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without paying you or owing you anything.

ko.lol works with services run by other companies: Riot Games for sign-in, match data and the League client, Google, Facebook and Discord for sign-in and connections, Stripe for card payments, Cloudflare for our network, and our advertising partner for ads on the free plan. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for them. If one of them stops working or changes its rules, the part of ko.lol that needs it may stop working too. Ads and links can take you to other sites, which we do not control.

No warranty, limits on liability, and indemnity

ko.lol is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises of any kind, written or implied, including that ko.lol will be correct, up to date, available without interruption, free of errors or fit for a particular purpose. Some places do not allow some of these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.

To the extent the law allows, KOLOL LLC, its owners, staff and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for lost profits, lost data, lost games, LP, rank or in-game items, or for any action Riot Games takes against your account, that comes from ko.lol or from your use of it. Our total liability to you for all claims together is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 100 US dollars if you paid us nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer in the EU, the UK or another country with its own consumer protection law, you keep every right that law gives you, and these terms do not take any of them away.

If you break these terms or the law while using ko.lol and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you will cover our reasonable costs of that claim, including lawyers' fees, to the extent the law allows. This does not apply to consumers where local law does not allow it.

Ending, the law, changes and contact

You can stop using ko.lol at any time. To have your account and the data tied to it deleted, write to [email protected]. Cancel Premium first if you pay by card, so you are not charged again.

We may suspend or close your account, or block your access to ko.lol, if you break these terms, if the law or Riot Games requires it, or to protect ko.lol or other players. Where we can, we tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it. We may also change, pause or stop any part of ko.lol. The parts of these terms that by their nature should last after your account ends (content licences, no warranty, limits on liability, indemnity and the law below) keep applying.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its rules on conflicts of law. Before you start any claim, write to us at [email protected] and give us 30 days to try to fix the problem. Any dispute that is not settled goes to the state or federal courts in Delaware, and both sides accept their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in the EU, the UK or another country whose law lets you go to court at home or keeps its own consumer rules in place, you keep those rights.

We may change these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If a change matters to you, for example to prices, to what Premium includes or to your rights, we tell you on the website, in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. A change the law requires, or one that stops abuse, can take effect sooner. If you keep using ko.lol after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, stop using ko.lol and cancel Premium.

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about ko.lol. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a right at once, we have not given it up. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over ko.lol, and your rights stay the same. You may not transfer them without our written consent. Neither of us is liable for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as an outage at Riot Games, a network failure or a natural disaster. These terms are written in English and translated into other languages. If a translation and the English differ, the English applies, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
