ko.lol 0.21.0 for Windows is the build the server is serving, a 83.2 MB installer

The desktop app answers the question you have while the game is running. This page hands you the file the server is serving right now, with its size and its checksum, so you can check what you downloaded before you run it.

Install it

Four steps, and the one warning you will see is named before you meet it.

  1. Download the installer with the button above. The file is ko.lol-Setup-0.21.0.exe, 83.2 MB. The checksum to verify it against is in the manifest table below.
  2. Run the file. Windows shows a blue SmartScreen box that says Windows protected your PC, because the installer is not signed. The way past it is More info, then Run anyway. What that warning means is written out before you click, not after.
  3. The app installs for your user, so there is no admin prompt, and it starts when the install finishes.
  4. Start League. The app reads the client's own local APIs and follows the draft on its own. There is nothing to set up first.

What the app does

The same store of games as this site, on the machine the game is running on.

The app reads the League client's own APIs while you play. During draft it reads the board as it fills in and names the pick. In game it answers the buy from your gold, your items and the enemy team in front of you. After the game it walks through what moved your result.

Every number in the app carries the same three things it carries here: the range, the games behind it, and where it came from. The app and this site read the same store of 108,616 recorded ranked games.

There is no account and there is nothing to sign up for. Post game review reads your matches through our server, so you do not need a Riot key of your own for it.

There are no screenshots of the app on this page yet. When there are real ones, they go here; nothing gets mocked up in the meantime.

What the server is serving

Read from the release manifest at build time. The updater in the app reads the same file.

The checksum is base64, the way the updater writes it. The app verifies it before it installs an update, and you can verify it yourself with the command below.
How to check the file yourself

In PowerShell, in the folder you downloaded it to, this prints the same base64 the manifest lists:

[Convert]::ToBase64String([Security.Cryptography.SHA512]::Create().ComputeHash([IO.File]::ReadAllBytes("ko.lol-Setup-0.21.0.exe")))

If the two strings do not match, do not run the file. Nothing on this page is worth running an unknown binary for.

The installer is not signed, and Windows will say so

Read this before you click, not after.

We do not have a code signing certificate, so Windows does not know who published this file. On the first install SmartScreen puts up a blue box that says Windows protected your PC. The way past it is More info, then Run anyway.

That warning is doing its job. It means the same thing for us as it does for any unknown publisher: Windows cannot tell you where the file came from. The checksum above is what we can give you instead, and it is the same one the app checks before it installs an update. If running an unsigned installer is not something you are comfortable with, do not run it. That is a fair call and this page is not going to talk you out of it.

A certificate is on the list. When we have one this section says so with the date it changed.

Updates

Never mid game. That rule is in the app, not in a setting you have to find.

A packaged build checks the feed on launch and once an hour after that. When there is a newer version it downloads in the background and applies the next time you start the app. Nothing interrupts a game, nothing prompts you to restart, and the title bar says update ready when one is waiting.

The feed is the same URL this page reads. Settings has the full status and a check now button if you would rather not wait for the hourly check.

macOS

Not released. Read this before you go looking for a file.

ko.lol has not been released for macOS. The mac update feed answers 404, which is why this page says so rather than offering you something.

There is a macOS build in the codebase and it runs, measured on Apple Silicon. It is unsigned. An unsigned build cannot update itself on macOS, because the updater checks the new copy against the signature of the running one, so every version would be a download and a reinstall by hand on top of a Gatekeeper warning. That is not something we are willing to publish, and nobody has committed to a date for the certificate that would fix it.

Windows is the platform ko.lol ships on today.

What it needs, and what it will not do

What it needs

  • Windows 10 or later, 64-bit.
  • The League client on the same machine.
  • 83.2 MB to download.

What it reads

  • The League client's own local APIs, which Riot publishes for this.
  • Match history through our server, for the post game screen.
  • Nothing else on your machine.

What it will not do

  • No memory reading and no injection.
  • No enemy cooldown tracking, and nothing else that reads as cheating.
  • Nothing that writes to your client unless you turn it on yourself.

Everything the app shows on patch 16.14 is measured the way how ko.lol computes every number describes.
